Kindred Memo ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices. It is written in plain language and designed to meet Apple's App Store requirements.

1. Overview
Kindred Memo helps you share daily memories—photos, voice, and video—with family and close friends. Your memories stay in your control. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing or advertising.

2. Data We Collect and Use
2.1 Information You Provide
Display name: The nickname you choose (e.g., "Grandma"). This is how family sees you in the app.

Favorites / Contacts: When you add someone to share memories with, we use your device contacts to help link them. You choose who to add.

Memories: Text, photos, voice recordings, and videos you create and send. These are stored in your iCloud account and shared only with people you choose.

2.2 Data Stored in Apple iCloud
Your memories: Stored in your personal iCloud using Apple's Private Database. Storage counts against your iCloud quota, not ours.

Shared content: When you send a memory to a linked contact, it is delivered via Apple CloudKit and stored in their iCloud. Only the recipients you select can access it.

Coordination data: Minimal records (e.g., share codes, delivery metadata) in Apple's Public CloudKit database to enable linking and delivery. No memory content is stored there.

2.3 Device and App Usage
Push notifications: If you enable reminders or notifications, we use your device token to send them. Tokens may be stored in a secure backend to deliver notifications when you receive new memories or reactions.

Subscription status: To provide Pro features, we use Apple's StoreKit to verify your subscription. We do not receive your payment details.

Analytics (optional): If the app includes analytics (e.g., to improve performance), we may collect anonymous usage events such as screen views. We do not collect names, emails, or other personally identifiable information in analytics.

2.4 Crash Reports
If the app crashes, we may receive anonymized crash reports to fix bugs. These do not include your memories or personal content.

3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data only to:

Deliver memories: Send your memories to the people you choose.

Enable linking: Let you connect with family via share codes.

Provide reminders: Send daily check-in reminders if you opt in.

Support subscriptions: Verify Pro access for features like extended voice/video.

Improve the app: Use anonymous analytics and crash reports to fix issues and improve usability.

4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your data.

We do not share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising.

Your memories are shared only with the contacts you explicitly add and send memories to.

Apple: Your data is stored and transmitted using Apple's iCloud and CloudKit. Apple's privacy policy applies to its services: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Google Firebase (if used): We may use Firebase for push notifications and optional analytics. Firebase processes data per Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share your memories or personal content with Google.

5. Data Retention
Memories: Stored in your iCloud. You control them. If you delete the app or your iCloud data, they are removed according to Apple's policies.

Coordination data: Retained as long as needed to support linking and delivery. You can revoke links or remove contacts at any time in the app.

Push tokens: Retained only for sending notifications. Removed when you delete the app or revoke permissions.

6. Your Rights and Choices
Access: Your memories and display name are visible in the app. You can view and manage them in Settings.

Correction: Update your display name or contacts in Settings at any time.

Deletion: Remove contacts, revoke links, or delete memories from your device. Uninstalling the app stops further data collection.

Notifications: Turn off push notifications in your device Settings at any time.

Subscription: Manage or cancel your Pro subscription in your device Settings under Subscriptions.

7. Children's Privacy
Kindred Memo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

8. Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your data:

Memories are stored in your iCloud Private Database, protected by your Apple ID and iCloud security.

Data in transit is encrypted.

We do not store payment information; subscriptions are handled by Apple.

9. International Users
Kindred Memo is available globally. Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where Apple and our service providers operate. By using the app, you consent to such transfer.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, through the app or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
